I installed the riser block yesterday. Turns out the kit I got was for
a Jet. The block itself works fine, but some of the other parts I have
to modify.
I was concerned about the alignment pins. The kit came with two, but
the block had 4 holes (and the bit). So I called Jet and the tech guy
told me to ignore the alignment holes altogether: the bolt holds it
down more than sufficiently. The alignment holes are simply for ease
of assembly at the plant.
That turned out good for two reasons. First, the HF 14" BS has angled
alignment pins drilled through the top arm. I had to use hydraulics to
separate the arms, and the pins were mangled. I'm now committed to the
riser block. The second reason ignoring the pins is good is that it
*forces* me to line up the wheels. That process was easy, and thus far
they are coplanar.
I have to wait for new tire bands, and blades, so it'll be at least a
week before I can see if it tracks well or whether the alignment of
blade to table etc. is all messed up.
But so far, riser block and coplanarity were easy.
