Are you threatening me? You've lied about my swearing at you on-line in the
past. Please do remember that. I took this kind of crap from one clown when I
was working for Woodcraft. If you will recall, I am now self-employed and
there's no need for me to take it.

His "apology" and change of heart lasted a couple of hours.
Dave,
How have you been wronged in life?
Been hugged lately? Have the people near and dear to your
heart told you how much you are to them? Have you told
them what it means to you those things they give to you?
Do people you know professionally approach you and say, "
Thank you for being such an influence on my outlook on
life...." or "I would really like to work for you..."

Slow down Bud. charlie self is a dead end street. He was fired by
Woodcraft, as he has been by many companies. His "Good Ol Boy" buddies
here amount to about 5. Mostly has beens.
Yes, you are fucked up. But that is ok. Compared to charlie self, you
are the Pope. I am the clown charlie self spoke about. I still sell to
Woodcraft and charlie self is barely ekeing out a living.
I have asked numerous Woodcarft franchise owners about the this self
important "Clown". They all said the same. He is full of shit. None of
them liked him or wanted him around. He claimed his department was
closed down. BS. He was closed down.
He is pissing and moaning about military service. OK. Then he should
post his record. Marine my ass.
Here is my record.

21ST. Aeromedical Squadron
Pope AFB, NC.
What was yours Charlie Self ? Make it public. And spare me the crap

COdy redux. Cody's the one who threatened to expose me to Woodcraft for calling
him on his $160 a square foot construction costs for a shop in Iowa! Scared my
wife so bad--my mistake was telling her--that I had to write him a note he
thought was an apology. It wasn't. He was another "I'm gonna tell your Momma"
boy.
I haven't been fired from a whole lot of other companies. I worked for myself
for 32 years prior to Woodcraft. For some of the results, run a search at
Amazon.com on my name.
In my tour with Woodcraft, I met, IIRC, 2 franchise owners, both of whom were
polite, as was I. The owners do not hang around the corporate offices, as they
have work to do, often at stores thousands of miles away.
You still sell to Woodcraft? When did you start? I don't recall them buying
cantaloupes. Do you even know what the address of the corporate office is?
I never claimed my department was closed down. My job was eliminated by my MBA
boss and her boss. Different thing.
As for military service, clown: USMC, 1958-1962, various outfits, the longest
was HML 161, Kaneohe Bay, from '59 through '61, and then on to MARS-27,
MWSG-27, 2nd MAW, Cherry Point, NC to finish up my tour. Entered as E1,
released from active duty as E4, serial number 1801670.
Now, let's talk about $160 a square foot shops in Iowa, clown.

That's a munged serial number, by the by. Cody may be putting his real number
up for grabs, but regardless of his sneers, I'd prefer not to put mine out.
It's only a single number off. But, what the hell, somehow I managed to get GI
Bill college payments, and get my prescrips from VA to this day. Ah, yes. And
a GI Bill mortgage.

Hey, Charlie,
Looks like our service tours overlapped a couple of years. I was able to start letting my hair grow out again in '64. But, doesn't
look like we shared time at any duty stations. You were Marine Aviation. I had to walk most places I went.

I resisted the haircut folly as much as I could...spent half my 4 years
hearing, "Self, get a haircut!"
Yeah, I worked hard to stay out of the grunt end of the business. I'm a lousy
shot, for one thing. My qualification each year was a close run thing. And
somehow I figured the wiring systems of an aircraft might be safer than some
guy popping mortar rounds in on me. Pre-RPG days, so what did I know?
Most of the former Marines I know now are either former grunts or engineers,
most of them 'Nam vets, an altercation I was fortunate enough to miss. Too late
for Korea, too early for 'Nam.
Way too old for any of the Gulf War stuff, whether I or II.

I "plonked" it long ago. But I keep seeing it come back, repeated in
other's posts.

OK, I'm trying to understand what's going on here. Seems to me, that you
post some good stuff (sturdi-floor in the other thread, for instance),
and it also seems to me that Charlie posts some good stuff. It also
seems that you guys just plain don't like each other.
It's odd that you choose to slug it out in public, rather than taking it
private and/or just killfiling and ignoring each other. It's just so
seemingly inconsistant that two people who have something helpful to say
would go out of their way to, well, you know.

He keeps popping through my filters, and this time, he managed to get to me. I
apologize for allowing that, but not for my response to him, here and
elsewhere.
If you really want a better idea of how Dave feels about other people, I
suggest you do a google search, under groups, specifically (in my experience)
rec.woodworking and rec.photo.digital. Then enter his name.
Enjoy.

BAD. I don't understand. You say you look at RPD sparingly due to
the volume of OT posts. Yet here on the wreck you seem to be the
most prolific OT poster.
The 2 threads on this ridiculous OT subject are a good example. You
triggered them. As of this posting there are 53 total posts, including
18 of yours. Yet you bitch about OT posts.
I think your propensity to drag your credibility to new lows has hit
another high.
This will be my only post in any of these related threads and you may
have the last word as you are wont to do. Fire away.

Paul, you are correct, RPD is pretty wild. I check it out
for info on new digital cameras. Nothing on that NG helps
me take better pictures. The sheer volume of posts makes it
difficult to scan for an interesting, on-topic post. Which
is why I look at it sparingly. :)

Actually, I have one burning question: Why on earth would you ever
bother reading rec.photo.digital? I take photography *very* seriously.
Unlike woodworking, I actually know a thing or two about it. r.p.d is
full of rude assholes, constant idiotic fights, an insane amount of
off-topic idiocity and absolutely chock full of misinformation and
people who obviously spend a lot of time reading and testing and very
little time taking pictures. I could think of no worse place to get
photographic information or to discuss it. Actually, just a couple of
weeks ago I added it to my subscribed list again just to see if it had
improved since the days of massive film vrs. digital wars. It hasn't.

It really makes a marvelous contrast to this group. And the porn is really
debased.
I've gotten some good leads to other people's ideas of what works and what
doesn't from there, thuogh I have to agree with you on most of it. I have an
immense set of filters, including about three for Bay Area Dave, for the group.
It runs up about 250 entries per day, and I see maybe 40. But it is a good
place to start looking for answers, as long as you don't take the circus too
seriously. After all, the clowns are running the place, which is unfortunate. I
can't quite figure out what no one likes anything that is shown anywhere. The
new 8 MP prosumer cameras, for instance, have gotten pounded. But I know at
least one member here who has one and finds it delightful. When you do enough
checking, you find out that your $950 prosumer won't do nearly as much as
someone else's $4600 DSLR with $11,000 worth of lenses, so the prosumer camera
is crap. Yeah it is.
As you say, the information is just a tad strange. But it never takes long to
read.

of ALL my posts over the past couple of years, many of them
are in ON topic threads, either started by me (I've had
LOT'S of questions) or I've joined a WW thread. The recent
spate of off-topic posts is an occasional anomaly. If you
want to do the research, you'll see that your seat of the
pants comment has nothing to do with the reality of my
posting history, WB. I don't care if you wish to respond,
but then if you do, you are part of the problem with OT
threads, huh? Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, as
they say. I could name a couple of PROLIFIC OF OT posters,
but in the interests of preventing additional discord, I
decline to name them.
At least you didn't curse me out like CS does to me and
others. That's to your credit. On the minus side, you are
trying really hard to discredit me with the out of context
number of off topic threads of late.

Let it go Charlie, just let it go...
You'll *never* have to defend yourself to your friends.
True courage is walking away from a fight you know you'll win.
I know, I've been bad by posting the thread about how foul
mouth he has been. It just bugs the heck out of me to see
him repeatedly use the f-word. I snapped! In the photo
newsgroup I rhetorically mentioned "editor" and he thought I
was threatening him. That's not what I do. I may bitch at
someone here because of our "past" but I don't threaten. He
misunderstood (but it was my fault for how I worded it, I
guess). Plus, I had even forgotten that I used the word
"editor" on the other NG so couldn't figure out why on THIS
NG, mention was made of an editor. I kept looking back at
all my posts on this NG in the two threads on Charlie and
couldn't find where I said editor so I labeled those guys as
liars. I screwed up for forgetting to look back at the
other NG, but I didn't realize that the guys here were
reviewing the post over there.
I don't do much e-mailing so that's why I posted in public.
You are correct that I shouldn't have, as then I'm sinking
to the level of the trolls (except I don't impersonate
anyone or lie, or use four letter words extensively, but my
detractors ignore that distinction, I'm sure, as my
crankiness is enough for them to label me a troll anyway).
I'll do MY part to limit further recriminations on these 2
threads.
As far as killfiling, I do VERY little of that, as I wait
until the rhetoric is persistent, foul, useless,
unrelenting, and unfunny, before I KF someone now. I used
to KF too many folks too quickly when they acted smart-assed
towards me. Now I just give them a bit of the same or I
read/ignore them. I forgot who I've got in the KF. let me
check...oh my, my!! I've got Charlie in there! But the
check mark for "Enabled" is removed. and the other fellow
goes by "cv01...". No wonder we are in the midst of a
pissing contest. I had taken him out temporarily because I
was wanting to see if he responded to another Wrecker about
a week or two ago when I asked that one post be forwarded to
him about "hand planes". Then like an idiot I left the
filtering disabled, and now we all are wasting our time over
a personal feud. I apologize to all.
I'll turn the filter back on in a second...I don't really
give a crap if he wants to blather on behind my back. :)
Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways, Dave!

btw, Dave, when in doubt, just check the headers. I don't
