I have a year old DW 733 planer thats had only about 150 BF of polpar and
maple through it. Just recently, it has stopped feeding the wood through
very well, as though the feed rollers are slipping on the wood - I need to
push it in, then slide around and pull the wood out to avoid a hot spot on
the surface. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I
haven't changed the blades yet, the cut surface still looks really good. Is
there any way I can try to clean the rollers? what with?
Thanks in advance.
Ian
Righto you are. I picked up a can and it works great. No residue on
the surface but it makes wood slide so easy.

Denatured alcohol on a lint free cloth.
You can also go to the DeWalt web site, register (free) and then enter into
the Service area and get access to How To articles, repair modification
(that you can do) and other info that may be of value to you.
Are the rollers rotating? Check the cog-belt and drive gears to see if the
belt is bad or if one of the gears came loose.

Yup. Same thing.
A little wax on the beds, and a water-moistened rag worked for me. I
consider it a part of required maintenance (it's all of a 3-minute
procedure) every 100 bf or so of thicknessing. I don't consider using water
a problem because I generally fire the thing back up and it becomes
"wind-dry" in withing 30 seconds. I assume the problem is just dust and not
pitch or some other contaminant. I'm sure DNA works, but I thought it might
be a little harsh on the rubber.

what Bob said. My 733 rollers started slipping and that's
what I used. that was years ago and I haven't had any
slippage since (other than a disc or two :) )

G'day,
I have the same problem with mine and have had since I bought it, but a
quick spray of Topcoat on the beds (See Link) and I'm back under way.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow. The rollers are turning, just not
gripping the wood as well as they used to.
