I can second Woodies review of this moisture meter. I have one of these,
and it's a small price for piece of mind on the moisture content of your
materials. Especially if you have a big job. For example, hardwood
flooring can become a complete disaster if not properly dried/acclimated
before installed. More recently (like this weekend), I was able to check
the moisture content of the Mahogany I bought to reproduce an entry door for
a Frank Lloyd Wright home. The materials alone were $600, so trying to
guess the moisture content would seem a pretty bad gamble. With it, I was
able to adjust the size of the door to accomodate future
expansion/contraction based on the initial moisture content and adjusting
for the average humidity in this area. --dave
