I stopped reading when I realized he was using a Dremel Mototool to cut biscuit
slots.

I think this lap desk is a nice idea. IF I had a PDA, I would consider
building one.
Real good results with limited tools etc. Hey, if you don't have a biscuit
joiner but do have a Dremel tool then a Dremel tool seems like the logical
choice.

Actually, no. Biscuits are alignment tools. Cutting slots with a Dremel saw
kills that whole concept. And then driving them in...
If you don't have a biscuit joiner, and you do have jointed edges, then butt
joint the sucker and glue it up. The rest is a waste of time, and may well
prove counterproductive over time.

It seems like a real logical choice until you realize that it is a complete
waste of time and effort. All he wanted to do was edge glue 2 boards. The
long grain glue joint is more than adequate. The biscuits do little if
anything to reinforce this joint. What they would do.. if he had actually
used a biscuit cutter is possibly make the alignment simpler. but even that
is a stretch as not much could really be made simpler. And, as he
improvised the whole thing, alignment was probably more difficult and
certainly more time consuming.
