Looking for special hinge

I am looking for a hinge that fits in a slit in the lid of a box and the
body of the box. I am also looking for the tool that creates the slit for
the hinge. I have seen these hinges in cigar boxes. Do you know what these
hinges are called, better yet where I can buy some.

Thanks

Chuck C

sr_wood, thank you, you hit the nail on the head. I have been looking for
these for about forever. I really appreciate the information along with the
URL.

And my Thanks to all who tried to help.

Chuck

I think you're talking about a quadrant hinge which also acts as a
lid catch to keep it from opening too far.

Search for "quadrant hinge" or "barrel hinge" on www.leevalley.com .
They have an amazing array of hardware. Mortise with a drill bit
or router.
