I have added several new filters lately. I like to add new filters
that expire after 30 days, that way I usually have less than 25 active
filters. There's more spam than before because people respond to spam
(it works).

Google doesn't care. Get a dedicated newsreader that can filter.
If you insist on using Google Groups, well, have fun. There's nothing
anyone here can do to help you.

I wasn't replying to you. What made you think I was?

So I should know this?
You want to play at sockpuppets, knock yourself out.
Thanks for the heads up, though. I can ad to my filters.

I'm sure your tongue-in-cheek marker was lit, but it's not even close.
Fewer than a dozen spam complaints. At least a couple of hundred
spams. No, I'm not kidding.
I'm starting to flood google abuse with copies of them. For those who
couldn't understand why I mess around with telemarketers, I want to
remind everyone that I'm retired and this is how I have fun.

Why all the SPAM complaint posts? Today I think there's been more
complaining about spam then spam itself!

I'll bet that you're now in *their* spam filters!

Odd. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 spams today. Either my filters are working
overtime, or else my usenet feed is filtering for me.

Ok that explains it. I knew it had to be something like that.

I don't find it difficult to mentally filter the spam. I'm not overly
concerned with being the _first_ person to reply to a post, so I just
scan for threads with more than one post. That effectively eliminates
95% of the spam right there. But, whatever floats your boat...

I was "dicke" for that one post. See the path above.
I had reset my reply-to and from address when I sent my posts to
google abuse. I've been an Agent user (abundantly evident in the
headers in both this post and the "dicke" post) since whenever my
start date listed in my sig says I started here. with perhaps a short
period in the beginning when I posted from the web through a Purdue
University gateway.
So, yes, you were replying to me.

Why? The spammers broke google's captcha and the bot engines are now
posting via google groups.
