Hi folks,
I've lurked off and on for a good long time, but I need some advice: I'm
in the market for a 16"-18" ish bandsaw, I live in the Netherlands (so
Jet, Delta, are out), and I want to be resawing lumber to feed my
guitarbuilding addiction.
I've come across a few second-hand saws that look like they might do the
trick (Mebers, MiniMax), including a mid-90's Cattini (possibly Enzo
Cattini) bandsaw that looks solid, Italian-made, excellent condition,
but I can't find any info on it, and since this will by first bandsaw, I
don't really know what to make of it. New Italian-made saws I'm
pondering are the Meber and Minimax 400's (so..the old Laguna 16"HT, I
believe, and the Minimax MM16; I think those are the US designations),
but they both run, with the few upgrades I want/the 220V motors - most
have tri-phase 380V - around the $2200 mark after taxes. This saw,
thought old, would be more like $800, but would need a motor replacement
and/or rewire, if I can figure out whether I've got three-phase 240V in
the new house (new shop, see?)
So, anyone heard anything about Cattini's saws? Found a website? Anything?
Thanks,
Mattia

I'm fairly certain I'll have three-phase to the breaker, question is if
I can get three-phase 240V running out to the shop or not; costs for
getting three-phase installed by an electrician/power company are
prohibitive for the amount of use I'll make of it...

Know nothing about the saw but it's very unlikely you have 3 phase in
a house, even in ND.
