I just got a PC 890 with the two base and adjuster option. When I turned the
router on it squealed like crazy, shut it off immediately. Looked it over,
turned up the speed turned it on and it sputtered, sounded like it was farting
as it gained speed and finally smoothed out. I made one cut and it seemed weak.
Today I turned the speed max and it farted to speed and then died. Rotating the
router in my hand will get a hint of start, like a wire is loose. Anyone know
if shipping could have done this or is it a bad unit. I'd like to fix it if it
is something like a loose wire.
Sounds like a brush is not making full contact or is bad, or a wire is
loose, or a wirs is being rubbed by the armature.
Can it be fixed--Yes
But why should you do it.
If It Is new take it back to where you bought it and let them know it is
screwed up out of the box.

I think this is a bad idea since opening the unit and repairing it yourself
will likely void your warranty. Then, is something major goes wrong down
the road, you could be SOL. I understand your wanting to deal with it
yourself and not be minus your router while the situation is rectified, but
I think you should send it back.
Frank
Return it, because you'll be waiting for the next failure, which will
probably come days after the warranty expires.
Beside it just may help PC find something they need to look at, wherever the
problems lies.

Return it, without a doubt. Even IF you do fix it, you will probably
have a weak router and can't trust it. Forget the service center. Mark

Could be shipping damage, but who cares? That is what warranties are for.
Send it back or take it to a service center.
Ed
