Dear All,
When I drew up the plans for my parents kitchen, it was the day after the
night before and missed having a couple of the particle core board edge
banded. The shop that did the cutting uses a machine that applies the glue
and trims automatically, this is one of the few machines I don't have at
home :). They gave me a roll of the raw edge banding, it looks to be a wood
veneer on a thin polyester backing.
How the hell can I apply this?
I am used to regular iron on edge banding.
I have a faint memory of doing this once, when I used to make and fly RC
planes, in order to apply paper thin plywood to the ribs on the wing, I
painted the ply and the ribs with yellow glue. Once dried, I used an iron to
apply the ply to the ribs. If it was good enough for an RC airplane, it
should be fine for some edge banding on the back edge of a cabinet.
Has anyone tried this? Can/should it work?
Any other thoughts on how I can apply this edge banding?
Running a bead of hot melt glue on the PCB and then ironing on the banding
might also be an option...
