Check the Path: line of any suspect posts, _before_ responding. if the
end of the line is "sewer-output!mail2news" it is definitely the resident
idiot.
Best thing to do is ignore him, utterly.
The basic troll-control filters at <http://www.r-bonomi.com/rec-woodworking/>
catch *all* these posts, and any follow-ups, regardless of who he chooses to
forge for the sender. The cross-post filter does have the occasional false-
positive -- where somebody -legitimately- cross-posts to more than the
threshold number of newsgroups; all the other filters show -zero- errors, when
run against the last 9+ months of postings here.
All the tests _are_ against headers nearly universally present in the news-
server 'overview' file, so the regular expressions *should* be usable in other
filtering software (besides nFilter/NewsProxy), with only minor syntax changes.

How many points do I lose because that went completely over my head?

Just consider yourself fortunate that you DON'T know and don't worry about
points. There's a net gain, anyway.
