PALLET NAILS PULLED OUT..........................ANOTHER QUESTION

I removed the boards from the runners with a circular saw then i
knocked off the tiny end blocks. I was trying to clip a nail so i
could punch it in deep and i discoverd that the pilars with the cutter
on one side was gripping the nail good of course. so i brassed the
front of the pliars and yanked the nails out no problem. The oak
looks really beautiful.

The wood really smells. Is there a way to get the small out? Or is it
gonna go away when i make something and stain it or put poly on it?

Have you ever been on a bender for a couple of days and finished the
whole thing off with a big sack of White Castles? Then the next day you
take a crap and it's the God-awfullest smell that by all rights should
carve the porcelain of the toilet.

If that's the odor you're smelling, don't worry about it. Oak always
smells like that.

once you've stained and sealed the wood there should be little or no smell
from it.
Nice to see that you are progressing, stay with it the rewards are great

I think pallet oak often smells like puke. The only wood I've found
that's worse was some freebie plywood I got from a dumpster behind an
importing company. I made a box out of it, and every cut was putrid!
Gaaack! The stink never left it and every time it got a little wet,
phew! Some time later I found a description of a Brazilian wood so
smelly that the local name for it is "puke wood". Often used for cheap
plywood.....

What of ? Cat pee / vinegar ? That's just the smell (tannic acid)
of freshly cut oak. Your pallet must be quite new. It'll go away in
a week or two.
