table top frame

What is a good way to flatten the legs and apron so they are flat and mate
well with the table top. My joinery is less than perfect and there are
slight gaps of about 1/16"when I lay the top on the frame. The table is a
small end table. I plan to attach the top with buttons and screws to allow
for movement [cherry]. Thanks for advice

First off make sure the legs and apron are all the same length. Take a
measurement from bottom of each leg to the of the apron. If there is a
discrepancy, use a small block plane and shave it off, that should make to
top fit. Ger.

i'm sure this isn't the best way and i'm as interested in seeing the
responses as you are...however....

I recently built a highchair with tapered legs that flared out. I was
suppose to trim the top by adjusting my miter gauge and blade tilt on the
TS. Needless to say I was also suppose to accurately clamp and glue up the
assembly...anyway...I got tired of messing with it so I laid the top of the
leg assembly down on my TS, took a 1/8" piece of HB and scribed a line all
the way around, inside and out then sanded to the line.
