Wish I could help, but I have never used Forte.

If at first you do succeed, try not
 to look astonished.

Something blew up with my newsreader - posted a msg to this group early Saturday morning
titled 'Removing accumulated wax / polish' and was never able to download the header.

Searched the Internet for rec.woodworking and was able to access the group and messages
via https://groups.google.com/.

Was surprised to see my posting and several replies - none of which I am able to download
with my newsreader.

After completing several procedures was able to successfully send the test message. Have
no idea why the header will not download or what to do to download the header and replies.

Thanks for the good advice Roy.

Appears all is back to normal with Agent - although have not been able to identify the
filter than caused the problem.

Doug,

1. Go to the top menu and click on "Online"
2. Click on "Sample Headers from Selected Groups"
3. Click in the circle for Sample Recent Headers (the first option) For a week
old message in the wREC, I'd put in no more than 700.
4. Make sure the bottom circle to reset the news record is checked.

NOTE: While I was checking to make sure I had the right words for these lines,
I accidently reloaded the last 3 years of headers in rec.woodworking before I
realized I was doing it. Make sure you only reload about the last 500 to 700.
If that doesn't do it, go to 700-1000 depending on how many more days of history
you need. If you select the middle option, and type in something like 10 days,
Agent d/l all headers, then purges everything except for those days, which takes
a lot of time.

Thanks to all for the helpful comments.

On the very few occasions that Agent has caused problems over many years of use have found
alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent a great source for help.

After several attempts at correcting the problem i.e., editing the newsrc file, reloading
all headers, etc. - was suggested to turn filtering off for the group and sample a number
of headers that would cover the time frame that was missing.

It worked! Had previoulsy checked all filters at least three times - none of which
included an author, subject or keyword that was being filtered.

Bottom line - have no idea which filter was responsible preventing the header from
downloading.

Something to file away in the bag of tricks for future consideration.
