Canadian Tire Headsup. Do we sell crap?

Canadian tire has reduced the over the counter replacement warranty to 7 days on
many Mastercraft branded tools. Drill presses, grinders, etc.
Now that is a vote of confidence if there ever was one.
It can take 3 months to get a Mastercraft tool repaired after the 7 day expiry.

One of the few good things about Canadian tire was their liberal policy of over
the counter replacement of their crapware.

Kinda like Quebec. They keep (ok, what, twice now) having referendums on
whether they should stay in Canada. I say, next time they pull that, the
rest of Canada take a vote the same night about whether they stay. See who
wins! :)

Clint, who's totally OT now. And my apologies to the rest of the Quebecer's
who are perfectly normal human beings.

Okay, I'll give you that... But still.

The only saving grace is he's in British Columbia. Well known for

Nope, ya'll have already got him. Kind of like getting stuck with a

Yeah, but what? Somehow the urge to put your face between a 70mph whizzing
piece of hard rubber and a net doesn't tell me that there's anything good in
that water. It could also contribute to this urge to leave Canada and strike
out on their own. The leadership of the Quebecquois should just save time
and all shoot a foot off with shotguns.

Can't comment on BC residents, but it's no wonder that Canada Post won't
deliver to his door. Three mountains to traverse, two lakes to swim and four
bears to wrestle. If I was a postal employee, I wouldn't be going further
than the post office box either. Maybe he should try for a bush plane
parachute drop.

overnight? If you're going to argue some point, at least put some brainpower

I did notice the quality of the Canadian Tire product go down
drastically. I"m guessing they think their loosing too much to WalMart
or something.

I've actually stopped shopping for tools a CT because I find their brand
kind of cheap now.

Sears still makes a good tool from what I can see.

I guess it all boils down to "You get what you Pay for"

They re-ran Rick Mercer's "Talking to Americans" last night. The reason the

I don't know about you, but I open my Christmas presents and birthday
presents on the day I get them and want to play with them right away.
Considering the title you've given to this thread, why are you buying what
you consider to be crap in the first place? It's not like their products
suddenly went from good to crap overnight. If I understand correctly, for
sometime you've been buying crap and now you're suddenly complaining about
it because the crap isn't as returnable as it once was.

Every message you post has been a complaint. You don't offer any type of
constructive suggestion about anything and you make additional complaints
when someone else offers you a suggestion. So yeah, in your case I'm a troll
and proud to be one.

They're likely the ones that are sick of the seperatist rhetoric and want to
hear something else for a change. Either that or they're seperationists that
are looking for a place to flee to when the seperation doesn't turn out as
planned. For sure if they seperate, they're going to be shunned in every
other part of Canada.

Doesn't that depend more on what part of the US someone is from? A few years
back when I was doing technical support for IBM, we handled the entire US
market for ThinkPad support. Southerners usually asked if I was from the
east coast because of my accent and the Easterners couldn't figure out
*where* I was from until I used works like "about" instead of "aboot". I
usually got a groan when I admitted we were in Canada. I'm still wondering
where they thought the tech support was coming from when the entire
department moved to Ireland.

Like Sears, you have to be crazy to buy a Canadian Tire tool at full price. So
you tend to buy them ON SALE, not exactly when you need them.

Compare their 12 inch drill press from 4 years ago to the one they sell now.
They look the same but they are not.
Smaller chuck, smaller motor, smaller spindle bearing and the head weighs about
15-20 pounds less now. But hey they added a completely useless lazer.:)

You have to be one of the most clueless pricks posting here.<g>

Yes. IT was part of the WARRANTY you dumbass. A big reason I bought Canadian
Tire tools.
Canadian Tire had over the counter exchange for the life of the warranty (two
years) on this drill press at the time.
They have some tools with a FIVE Year over the counter exchange. Their Maximum
line.

You must be the most clueless shopper on the planet.
