my real name. Some of you long itme recww folks may know of me if I hinted
this: it is no crime to color cherry with a stain.
I like the smell of lacquer in the morning. A furniture conservator called me
a "hosehead" because I like spray guns. Will they ever figure out how to go
"wireless" or cordless with a spray gun? It would be nice (and unencumbering)
to be able get rid of the lines which tether the gun to the air and/or finish
supply.

The CB crowd always used handles instead of names. Some newsgroup folks use
handles, some use psuedonyms and some use handles.
The mistake made years ago was not requiring digital fingerprints for
newsgroup posts. If you outlaw spam then only the outlaws will spam. Is it
too late to do something about it?
Congree tride, but thanks to at least one senator Pete "The Torch" Toricelli
from NJ -- aren't they all, sad to say -- they included a clause that a
spammer can send you at least one junk email as long as there was some kind
of "opt out" link included. Thanks Pete. That was thousands and thousands of
junk emails ago, each with their ersatz "unsubscribe" link.
But anyway, yes that is me, a long time lurker and sometime participant. This
refinishing magazine will give everyone a glimpse into the other half of
woodworking. A woodworking project needs a date, something to marry.
Finishing is the proper mate/spouse. If all anyone can do is to wipe on some
Danish oil, they might as well be renting DVD's and taking deflatable dolls
out to dinner.

Some use real names and emails. And don't suffer very greatly because
of it, either. I get about 250 spam emails a day, but I deal with only
one or two manually.**
I'm using Spambayes (see http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/) and highly
recommend it to anyone else, especially if you're using Outlook because
the plugin installs and works so conveniently. (And it's entirely
free.)
I don't recommend this to someone using a slow dialup connection, mind
you, since it still has to receive the messages from your server.
Also not appropriate for web-mail types (but fine for IMAP and POP3
systems).

What an excellent resource. Like many of us on the "Wreck", no doubt, I am
a competent woodworker and reasonable finisher. However, it really is an
eyeopener to see some of the stunning work done by the true professional
restorers and refinishers. I stand in awe.
I've never considered it a crime to stain cherry either, and I intend to
follow the E-zine. Might (shudder) even fork out hard cash money if it ever
comes to that. That's the highest form of praise, particularly when it
comes from a Scotsman...
