Besimer fence on a powermatic saw?

I have a quick question - I have a Besmier fence on my delta cabinet saw.
Im looking at picking up a old 5hp powermatic for a good price - does anyone
know off hand if the besimer fence/rails will fit to powermatic?
Or are the rails saw specific?

Thanks
Rob

Rob,
yes, the fence& rails will fit or can be made to fit very easily. You
might have to drill some new holes in the 66, but it will fit just
fine. Biesemeyer

If you have the mounting rail and the rectangular tube made for the fence
all you would have to do is to redrill a few of the holes (mounting rail to
saw) and bolt it up. Be sure you have the dips in the mounting rail
positioned to clear your miter gauge slots. I mounted a 50" PowerMac fence
on my Unisaw and drilled only 4 holes.

The serial number is 2-5018-3 (if anyone can tell me anything about it
based on the serial number)
Its a 5hp - 3phase.

Thanks

Rob,

5hp sounds like a 66. I can tell you the old style stock cast iron fences with
the tubular rails on the powermatics can't be beat. If that's what you're
looking at and it's in good shape aside from some tune up work, keep it and use
it. They also have micro adjust knobs which are handy. The only down side is
that the scales on the tubular rails are a bit tough to read but you can remedy
that by filling the markings with something dark.

I've got a 1965 vintage 66 and couldn't be happier with it.

Good luck,

David

So that Chevy is a Corvette!!!!!

Just wondering as most cabinet saws mentioned here are of the smaller 10"
variety. You will have more capacity but more expensive blades to buy for
it..
