OT major gloat

Last week I had a minor gloat with a load of Ash I picked up.
This weeks MAJOR gloat is that my son phoned with the news
that I'm gonna be a grandpappy for the 1st time.
Never thought I'd see the day

Know te feeling. Funny story. When my dau-in-law was expectin,
years back, for some still unknown reason my ex seemed to feel it was
appropriate to communcate wih me regarding the fact. She's had little
contact with my sons since she left us in '84, and less with me.
However, she apparently she had it in her head that she was the
"matriarch" of the tribe. Accordingly she was not enthused that the son
had not asked her input on getng engaged, getting maried, nd getting his
wife in the family way. So she picked me to tell about her feelings
that she was "too young to be a grandmother". She was somewhat pissed
and apparently figured I was the one person who would give her a bit of
sympothy. So she asked me how I felt about being a grandfather. I told
her I thought it was "kinda neat". I am happy to report that with that
little admission I probably spoiled her entire week. Hehehehe It
really, really, pssed her off. Still give me warm fuzzies. Tell the
kid now it's gonna be pay back time. LMAO

I can remember back when I was about twelve, my very exasperated
mother said: "I hope you have kids just like /you/!"

It's a lot easier to chuckle about that now they're grown. :-)

Much easier to think about it now anyway. At least they both work
and on't get in trouble. And I resisted beating the older one brutally
about the head and shoulders using a large wooden stick - would have
been impossible to believe back then, but he recently got promoted to
supervisor at work, now the number one man after the owner. Will
wonders never cease?

Congratulations, Gramps -- and on Father's Day, no less!

I'm still a few years away from that. At least I'd better be. (#1 is still a
teenager, until next spring.)

Thanks for the nice comments folks.
At least now I have some ideas for what to make with
some of that Ash I scored last week.
(cribs, cradles, toys etc.)

I'll add my congratulations. That's indeed a major gloat. Got 2
granddaughters (11, 7) and a grandson (10 mo). Is indeed sweet revenge on
one's kids!

I posted before I read th replies. Yep, I said something similar.
I used to tell my son I hoped he had three kids, hat acted just like he
did. Actually, the grandkid is turning out all right, and we get along
fine.
