Recently I got a new router and it's time to make a top that would fit
the ts as an extension table. Then I remembered how it was a pain
several times with the old router done like that as it was in the way
when setup and I had to saw something. The saw has only a 32" fence.
I am trying to come up with another way to utilize the space in
between the saw rails other than with the router. I've got a small
shop so the space needs to be put to some good use. I saw in the Oct
Wood mag. the flip top system where you mount equipment to a panel and
flip it one way to use it, and over again to have a top to work on
with the equipment hanging upside down at that point. I was thinking
of doing that and mounting my 12" planner to it between the saw rails.
Anyone try that before? Something I'm overlooking here?
Thanks for any help or pointers.

How about building the end of your extension as a hinged unit so it will
fold down out of the way under the main extension when you are not using the
router. You could even set it up so the router stays in the wing. Just a
possibility...

That's something I didn't think of. A drop leaf table arrangement
that would get the router out of the way in second and not extend any
further past the saw when down. I would still have some room under
the TS extension for storage.
Thank's Paul!
