Input about the Dremel Scrollsaw

My opinion is, stop shopping at Home Depot. Seriously.

Just because it was within your price range doesn't ecessarily mean
buy it. I'm thinking you don't have a lot of scrollsaw experience. You
could spend that much, then decide you don't like it. I'd say check
your local bargain papers for a used saw, bu one you like - and that
works - and use it for awhile. If you don't like to scrollsaw after
all, resell it, and no biggie. If you DO like to scrollsaw then you've
got a scrollsaw. You can stick with that one, OR, you can use it and
look for a model to upgrade to. Then resell the old saw.

I started with a cheap little scrollsaw. It sawed, but thats about
it. Walked into a Sears franchise store one day and they had a stack of
new, in the box, variable speed, scrollsaws, listed for about $35. I
asked if the price was right, they said yes, I grabbed one. Have had it
ever since. A bit later they had almost similar saws listed for about
$175. I don't know if mine was a discontinued model or what, but it is
pin or pinless, has a nice sized cast table, and works like a champ.
Last years Craftsman catalog listed them at about $175, including a work
light. Might want to take a look at them. A lot of people here will
bitch about Craftsman tools, but I'm happy with mine.

Don't shop at Home Depot.

Can't comment on the Dremel but H/D regularly discontinues items.

Not sure, but think it has something to do with returns, exchanges, etc.

Thanks for your input, it is good to hear others opinion it helps a lot.
I have been scroll sawing for about 15 years now and started with a
craftsman and just wanted to upgrade as mine is over 15 years old and
beginning to get tired of holding settings and such.
