ok, i don't know if this is the right forum for this, but i couldn't find
anything that made any more sense, and you all sure seem to know a lot about
wood.
i just purchased a home with "oiled" hardwood floors, and i have no idea
what to clean/maintain them with. every product i see for hardwood floors
specifically says, "not for use on oiled hardwoods" on the label. does
anyone have any idea what i should use to clean them?

no no no....do not poly on top of the oiled floor..please! Not unless you
want the cheap, easy, ugly way out. IMO nothing is nicer than a fine oiled
floor, as long as the wood and oil used are of a decent quality. People over
here pay top dollar for a nicely oiled floor. Check out this
website...www.sutherlandwelles.com. They manufacture all sorts of maintenance
products for oiled floors. the beauty of oiled surfaces is the more oil you
put on the "deeper" the finish becomes, which is the look people go for when
oiling floors. That website will have a lot more info for you. good luck!

yes, i think that's what we'll wind up doing the first time it needs to be
sanded and refinished. we're hoping to put it off till then, however, since
it's a brand new floor.
